Warabi (fern shoot fiddleheads) make a tasty green salad. You can usually find these wrapped in damp newspaper at a local farmer's market. Inspect warabi to make sure fiddleheads look clean and firm. Many recipes come with seafood. This one is all vegie!
40 stalks warabi (fern shoots)2 large tomatoes or 4 smaller roma style, chopped1 Maui onion, sliced5 T. sesame oil + 2 T. sesame seeds Hawaiian Salt to taste
Wash, clean and cut warabi in 1-inch lengths. Parboil; drain and set aside. Saute onion in 1T. of the oil, allow to cool. Combine all ingredients,, mix well. Chill.
